For the most part, people have been conditioned to think that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and have to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this is true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be perfectly nourishing and good for us to consume. There are some foods that, when you eat them, could better your mood. If you feel a little bit down and you need an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.
Build a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which boosts serotonin production. Serotonin is called the “feel good” chemical and it tells your brain how you should be feeling at all times. The higher your serotonin levels, the better you will feel. Nuts, on top of elevating your mood, can be a superb protein source.
