The benefits of healthy eating are these days being given more publicity than ever before and there are a number of reasons for doing this. There are a number of health conditions related to a poor diet and there is a cost to the overall economy as individuals suffer from conditions such as heart disease and hypertension. While we’re always being counseled to adopt healthy eating habits, it is also easier than ever to rely on fast food and other convenience items that are not good for us. In all probability, most people think that it takes a lot of work to eat healthily and that they will need to drastically alter their lifestyle. Contrary to that information, individuals can modify their eating habits for the better by carrying out several small changes.
You can make similar modifications with the oils that you use to cook your food. For example, monounsaturated fat like as olive oil can be helpful in offsetting the bad cholesterol in your diet. Olive oil also provides vitamin E which is good for your skin, among other things. It may be that you already feel that you eat fruit and vegetables but it can be worthwhile considering how fresh these are depending on where you purchase these. If you can opt for organic foods, you can avoid the problem of ingesting crops that may have been sprayed with toxic pesticides. If you can locate a good local supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables, you can also consume foods that have not lost their nutrients as a result of storage or not being harvested at the right time.
Obviously, it’s not difficult to begin integrating healthy eating into your life.

The ingredients needed to make skye's sausage gravy:
- Get ground sausage (pork, turkey or chicken… regular or breakfast style. I like a mild or breakfast pork sausage)
- Get nutmeg
- You need garlic powder
- You need paprika
- Prepare red pepper flakes
- Prepare salt & pepper to taste
- Prepare flour (I like "wonder" gravy flour… it is a very fine flour and blends quickly)
- Use milk (whole or 2% work best)
Instructions to make skye's sausage gravy:
- in a non-stick skillet on medium heat… fry your ground sausage with your spices until browned and fully cooked.
- drain grease all but about 2 tablespoons.
- sprinkle the flour over the sausage… stirring constantly so that it doesn't stick … until absorbed and you can smell a lovely "nutty" scent.
- slowly stir in your milk… turn down the heat to low and allow to simmer with a lid on for a few minutes.
- if your gravy is too thick. .. thin it with a little more milk or water… adding only a tablespoon or so at a time. if it is too thin… just add a little bit of flour only a teaspoon at a time. .. stirring well in between each addition giving it time to be absorbed.
- serve over biscuits, cornbread, or even noodles.
