  1. You need 6 C water
  2. Take 1 t kosher salt
  3. Use 2 C white corn grits
  4. Provide 3 T butter
  5. Prepare 2 C cheddar cheese (grated)
  6. Prepare 1 T + butter for every slice you intend to fry
Instructions to make Fried Cheesy Grits:
  1. In a large pot over high heat, bring water to a boil.
  2. Gradually stir in the grits.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer gently, stirring frequently until mixture is very thick (about 30 minutes).
  4. Stir in the butter, salt and cheese until cheese is melted.
  5. Pour mixture into a greased loaf pan, level and chill overnight.
  6. Remove from pan and slice to desired thickness. (We prefer 1/3"-1/2")
  7. Freeze until solid and store in a zipper bag.
  8. In a pan over medium-high heat, melt 1 T of butter per slice of grits.
  9. Fry until a nice golden-brown crust has formed, about 5 minutes.
